Bulbasaur was designed in Generation 1 by the Game Freak team with the idea of creating “hybrid Pokémon” between animals and plants. Its progressive evolution (Bulbasaur → Ivysaur → Venusaur) was also designed to visually represent natural growth, like a plant developing over time. It is also one of the first Pokémon chosen by many trainers in the anime, including Ash in certain versions of the series.
