The “Pause” Series: Pixel Art Invites Us to Slow Down 🌀

Among his various creations, Jude imagined the “Pause” series, inspired by his own meditation practice. 🧘

This collection features well-known characters in moments of calm and reflection. Far from the usual action associated with video game worlds, these characters take the time to stop, breathe, and enjoy a peaceful moment. The series offers another way of seeing these heroes: no longer in the middle of the action, but in a more intimate moment.

Each character also has a title that reflects their personality: “Mindful Mario”, “Samadhi Samus”, and for Link: “A Link to the Present”, a playful nod to the famous “A Link to the Past”, inviting us to stay fully present in the moment. ⏳

At the heart of this series, a simple idea guides each creation: we are not our thoughts, we are the ones who observe them. An invitation to create some distance between ourselves and our minds, to watch our thoughts pass by instead of being carried away by them. ✨

For this collaboration, we chose to transform one of the creations from the “Pause” series into a perler beads pattern: Link, the iconic hero from the Zelda series, shown during a meditation session. 🪷 🌈

This interpretation is particularly interesting because it presents a different vision of the character’s usual adventurer image.

Link is no longer just the one who explores fantastic lands or faces enemies. He becomes a calm, focused, and peaceful character. A new side of a hero that many people have known for years.
